Felicity Cameron
Director & Principal Vocal Teacher

Felicity is a trained professional singer who has been performing on the Australian live gig scene in bands, duos and as a soloist and has been teaching singing and performance for over 20 years.
She is classically trained completing her AMEB grades and has been singing contemporary, pop, rock, musical theatre and jazz throughout her career. Felicity has performed alongside high-profile entertainers such as Jon Stevens, David Campbell and Julia Stone . She has performed lead roles in well known Musical Theatre Productions such as Les Miserables, Little Shop of Horrors, Grease and Cabaret.
Felicity is a graduate of the prestigious Talent Development Program and has made numerous stage and television appearances as well as professional session singing and recording in Sydney.  She was a soloist for consecutive years in the Sydney Schools Spectacular and performed as a chosen soloist at Olympic Torch Ceremonies during the Sydney Olympics.

 

She took out the Local Business Award in 2021 for Outstanding Education service for Northbeat Music.

 Felicity has vast experience working with, and coaching her students to reach their best vocal potential.

Having taught singing and performing arts in high schools and primary schools, Felicity has also conducted vocal ensembles and large choirs, along with coaching roles in popular musical productions.

As principal of NorthBeat Music Academy, Felicity believes in the benefits of music and performance to build student’s brain power, social skills, creativity, confidence and self-discipline.

 

Felicity has a remarkable ability to create specialised programs applicable to her student’s needs and interests. She develops a strong support with her students of all ages from kindergarten to adults over a wide range of genres. She is highly respected within the community and music industry. Parents comment on her natural ability to develop confidence and a love of singing.

Felicity is particularly interested and experienced in preparation for HSC Music (Contemporary Vocal) and performance.

Claudia Joller

Vocal Teacher

 

Claudia is an Australian and Swiss multidisciplinary and multilingual artist based in Sydney. Her extensive vocal training has led to performance opportunities across the globe as lead vocalist and host, currently touring in both SMA Productions’ ‘The Diamonds’ and Evoke Entertainments ‘Les Femmes’ live entertainment extravaganza. 

 

Her passion for versatility was nurtured at ED5International where she also trained in dance and acting for stage and screen, achieving her Adv. Diploma in Performing Arts (majoring in vocals). Her experience and training in vocal styles ranging from Musical Theatre to Aussie Rock allows her to have a rich understanding of techniques used to achieve any tone. She has also completed exams for Classical Voice with Trinity College London.

 

Sharing the stage with artists such as Marina Prior and Ricky Lee and travelling the world as a cruise ship vocalist are highlights in Claudia’s career thus far. She starred as Ariel in Sydney’s 3-month debut run of The Little Mermaid Cocktail Experience at SEA LIFE Aquarium (Fever Productions). In recent years Claudia has performed at corporate events for esteemed clients including Toyota, Sacred Heart Mission, Arnott’s, and Colliers, and feels very at home in the recording studio after session singing for P&O Musicology (Grayboy Entertainment) and Think Brick Awards (Phillip Filo).

With a bubbly and warm personality, Claudia creates a safe and fun teaching environment where her students will grow both in confidence and technique. With a particular focus on storytelling and intention, students will feel their progress form a place of honesty and feeling. Alongside this, Claudia’s ear for detail will ensure that healthy technique lies at the foundations of her students’ learning.

Jessica Tannous

Vocal Teacher

Jessica is a Sydney-based musician and songwriter who has studied voice for over eight years. She is currently in her fourth year completing a Bachelor of Music Education Honours for Contemporary Music Practice at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, University of Sydney. This degree has allowed Jessica to explore the intricacies of the elements of vocal performance and ensemble collaboration music along with production and songwriting. Growing up in a musical family, Jessica started singing with her parents and studying piano at the age of three. She then began to train in contemporary voice with a shift to musical theatre technique and repertoire in later years. Jessica has completed AMEB exams in voice with a specialisation in musical theatre, achieving a high distinction average. She graduated high school with first place in HSC Music 2, which led her to study music at the tertiary level. 

 

In recent years, Jessica has undertaken roles of conductor, music director and vocal director in a variety of amateur and professional theatre productions.  Her theatre credits include New Voices Live (2022) Vocal Director and Assistant Music Director in We Will Rock You (2022) Music Director in Spring Awakening (2022) and Assistant Music Director for The Addam’s Family (2023). Jessica's experience working with professional actors and vocalists on these productions has allowed her to form a nuanced approach to constructive feedback and individualised considerations to refine technique for a desired goal.

 

Jessica has also worked as a professional solo musician performing as an acoustic artist with her guitar. She specialises in live loop pedalling with both her voice and guitar. She has performed at venues such as the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney Town Hall, Casula Powerhouse and Parramatta Artist Studios. In recent years, Jessica has also worked in the Sydney choral scene as a member and soloist of the Sydney Conservatorium Chamber Choir and Coro Innominata. 

 

Ultimately, Jessica believes in crafting an individualised and specialised program for each student to allow them to reach their musical goals. She aims to create a warm and inviting space for every student to feel comfortable in exploring their creativity and musical ability.

Melissa Ertler

Vocal Teacher

Melissa has grown up in a musical environment, inspiring her to sing and pick up instruments from an early age. She has completed a Bachelor of Music (Contemporary Music Practice) with first class honours and has years of teaching experience. She has taken many performance based classes that have solidified her understanding of vocal health, technique and performance skills and has also completed composition and recording based classes that have strengthened her prowess as a songwriter and producer.

 

She is passionate about providing a holistic experience for her students where they will learn about vocal technique, enhance their confidence and develop an overall joy for music. She creates an open, encouraging environment for students to let their personalities shine and express themselves through music. She caters to all needs and is open to exploring a variety of genres such as Pop, Soul/R&B, Rock, Folk, Jazz and Musical Theatre.

 

Melissa is also highly involved in the Sydney live music scene, whether it be solo piano/vocal gigs or original band gigs. Her experience on stage has equipped her to teach students how to manage performance anxiety and become a confident, authentic performer. She also has a passion for songwriting, production and videography and would be thrilled to help students with any of their creative endeavours.

John Romeo
Guitar &  Bass Teacher and Guitar Repairs

John provides specialised and tailored tuition to fit the individual needs of each student. All students from beginners to advanced guitarists are welcome.


With 20 years of tuition experience and the backing of a Music degree and Secondary Music Education degree, John can provide lessons that are both challenging and inspiring.


Over the years John has worked in the studio with many well known professional artists and bands. His skill set includes being a recording engineer, producer, co-songwriter and mix engineer.

John has collected an array of impressive classic gear to help obtain lush sounds.

He uses Apogee Symphony converters, mogami gold cabling, preamps by: Sebatron, Golden Age Project and Tl Audio.


Classic microphones by Neumann, Rode, Akg and sennheiser; and Dynaudio monitors.

Vintage Guitar amplifiers by Vox, fender and Marshall; and countless classic and vintage guitars and pedals.

Liam Maher
Guitar Teacher


A young and talented guitarist who has been playing and performing since he was 10 years old. Liam’s devotion to music is evident in his achievements throughout high school, placing first in his music 1 results for both years 11 and 12 as well as being one of only 2 students to receive an encore nomination.

 

Liam regularly gigs, rehearses and records with bands around Sydney. As an ex student of music engineer and guitar virtuoso, John Romeo, Liam’s teaching style is unique for each student. He exercises his talents to help each student reach their personal musical goals and endeavours.

 

Liam’s experience teaching guitar locally, performing on stage, and recording in studio has equipped him with the ability to both deepen students appreciation of music and of the art of guitar playing as well as assist them in establishing how they wish to utilise and make the most of their musical skills and talents.
